With Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate Marketing, in my opinion, is not perfect but is an easy way for
a beginner to start selling things via direct marketing. You don't need
an Internet site, you don't need to be able to accept charge cards and you
don't need to buy and ship products.
So, you ask "Exactly what is Affiliate Marketing?"
Basically, an Internet merchant agrees to pay you a commission for helping
to sell their product or service and when done correctly can earn you fees
as high as 75% of the selling price. In effect, you find the potential
customer through paid advertising or other free methods and direct them to
the merchant's Website. When a purchase is made the merchant handles
accepting payment from the customer and the delivery of the merchandise or
service.
When the transaction is complete you are paid your share of the sale. Federal
law requires a company to accept returns within 30 days of any item sold
by mail or on the Internet. With this in mind it is understandable that some
companies may delay your commission payment for a reasonable period of time.
Don't consider Affiliate Marketing as a get rich quick scheme but do be aware
that there are those who earn some very good money each year — I'm talking
in the $100,000 and higher range — acting as affiliates for other companies.
Like any worthwhile endeavor there is a learning curve one must master before
they become expert at Affiliate Marketing and begin earning the big
bucks. The phrase you've heard me say before is "first you learn ...
and then you earn."
The type of products you can sell — and earn money from doing so —
is almost endless. It might be a $15 paperback book that only makes
you $3 or $4. It could be a bookkeeping course that brings you an affiliate
fee of $100 or more, or perhaps it could be a high-ticket item such as an
exercise machine that allows you to earn $500 or more.
Many Affiliate Marketers do not depend on just one line of products. Rather
they diversify their efforts. You might find them selling beauty products
with one campaign and dog food with another. Some items — like eBooks
or computer programs — may be downloadable from the Internet while other
merchandise has to be delivered via the United States Postal Service, United
Parcel Service or Federal Express.
I am a firm believer in learning from those who have already been down the
path and one such person is a Canadian lady by the name of Rosalind
Gardner. She hates the title but is known in Internet marketing circles
as the "Queen of Affiliate Marketing." Rosalind not only wrote an excellent
book on the subject but is often the featured speaker at marketing seminars
worldwide. I have read her book and found it quite informative. In
fact, below you will see an advertisement for the book and I would suggest
that you consider buying it. It is well worth the price.

Be aware that some "affiliate" offers can be on the shady side and should
be avoided. One example would be those promoting pyramid schemes which
you really should shy away from. In her book, Rosalind outlines numerous
mistakes that are often made — especially by beginners — and reveals
several other programs one should avoid. Sorry, but that information is too
lengthy to include here in this short
report.
One company you should become acquainted with is ClickBank.com. They offer
thousands of downloadable items that you can begin selling immediately. If
you have a Website you may wish to also check out LinkShare.com , CJ.com
and AssociatePrograms.com.
At the beginning of this article I said that Affiliate Marketing is not perfect.
My major reservation is that you are providing customers for others rather
than for yourself. I much prefer finding customers to buy my products,
collect their names and are then able to sell to them time and time again.
It's easy and inexpensive to get started with Affiliate Marketing and you
can in effect have the opportunity to become a commissioned salesperson for
many well know companies in America including such names as Omaha Steaks,
1-800-Flowers and even Wal-Mart.
If you are willing to put out the necessary effort you too could be earning
some very nice money as an Affiliate Marketer. Learn and earn.
